President's Greeting
Welcoming Remarks
Jae Hyeon Ryu, PhD, 54th President of KSEA
Dear fellow KSEA members and the extended Philadelphia community,
It is a profound honor to offer these welcoming remarks for the 2026 US-Korea Northeastern Symposium on AI, Biomedical Science, & Engineering. We gather under the visionary theme, "Pioneering the Future: The Convergence of AI, Bio-Science, and Engineering," a topic that sits at the very frontier of global innovation.
I have watched with great pride as the KSEA Philadelphia Chapter has grown into one of our most active and vital hubs. Your commitment to promoting research and education in the greater Philadelphia area is a testament to the strength of our professional network.
The caliber of this symposium is truly exceptional. By featuring distinguished keynote speakers such as Dr. Junhyoung Kim and Dr. Deok-Ho Kim, followed by a slate of expert invited speakers, you have curated a program that perfectly captures our collective goal: solving complex, real-world problems through technical synergy.
Most importantly, I want to recognize the KSEA student chapter at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). Your engagement here is essential. By galvanizing mentor-mentee relationships and discussing a shared vision for the future, you are ensuring that our core values—motivation, engagement, and excellence—are passed down to the next generation of leaders. This model of local engagement is precisely what we aim to replicate across all regions for our mutual growth.
As we celebrate the Lunar New Year (설날), I hope the season brings you renewed strength and passion. May the knowledge shared today, particularly as your skillsets are increasingly embraced by AI, help you navigate and lead in your academic and professional endeavors.
Again, my heartfelt congratulations to the organizers Dr. Su Chin Heo and Dr. Wookjin Choi, and participants. Let us continue moving forward together with purpose.
Warm regards,
Jae Hyeon Ryu, PhD
54th President of KSEA
